Objectives
- Getting to know people’s names / ancestry.
Instructions
- Ask people to write their full names on a post it note or on an A3/A4 sheet.
- In small groups go through and discuss:
- Who were they named after?
- Where did they get each name from?
- Where does their last name whakapapa to?
- How connected are they to their cultural / family heritage?
- What other parts of their identity do they connect to their name?
- Unpack the exercise as a group- what new knowledge have you gained from your peers.
