Penny Prescott

Penny Prescott is currently in a Project Development role at Rerenga Awa | Canterbury Youth Workers Collective, and is a practicing Restorative Justice Facilitator.  Penny was the manager of Rerenga Awa from 2013 until 2021 and has a background in youth development, Māori development and restorative practice. In her time at Rerenga Awa, Penny has developed long-lasting and genuine relationships with members of the youth sector, developed skills of governance and decision making and has been able to see first-hand the benefits that the organisation provides to on the ground youth workers.

As someone who is interested in the unique qualities of each person and enjoys putting energy into maximising potential, building connections and contributing to important socio-political projects are Penny’s passions. In project development for Rerenga Awa, a large focus for Penny is the development of the Māori youth work workforce and supporting the development of the wider youth sector to understand and uphold Te Tiriti and encourage genuine bicultural practice.

Penny is also involved in non-profit governance, currently sitting on the boards of Scope Aotearoa Charitable Trust and the North Beach Community Preschool.

Penny loves living in New Brighton, Ōtautahi with her partner, 3-year-old son, two dogs and some chickens!
